Would you be interested in joining a Hook heating oil syndicate?
There could be big savings to be made by joining up to form a group and ordering oil together to get a better price.
At today’s prices there would be a big saving with customers paying 49.8p per litre compared to 56.2p per litre on a 500 litre delivery
The oil market is a very volatile and prices change daily but this gives you an idea of the savings that could be made.
For the reduced price to kick in we would need to be able to order 4000+ litres at once this could be made up of 4 x 1000 litre orders or 8 x 500 litre orders it wouldn’t matter (please note 500 litres is the minimum delivery amount)
If you are interested and for more information please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org

There have been a number of instances recently where canisters of nitrous oxide have been found throughout the village.
Nitrous Oxide is also known as Nox, hippy crack and laughing gas amongst others. It is 1 of the latest substances youngsters are using to get a high and has led to a number of deaths throughout the country. Users usually take the substance by breathing it from a balloon. Being heavier than air it forces the oxygen out of your lungs leaving you feint and light headed. It can also cause hallucinations. Like most substances the body slowly gets accustomed lessening the effect which often leads to the user moving onto harder drugs.
These instances have been reported to the police and more routine police visits have been agreed.
Please warn your children of the dangers of using drugs including the longer term implications and encourage them to let you know if anybody offers them any substances.
We all like to think that our child wouldn’t do that, but judging by the numbers of canisters found, this is groups of youngsters rather than 1 or 2 individuals.
Hook is a great place to live for young and old alike. Please let’s keep it that way
Flyers have now been produced for the upcoming Village well-being plan which is being drawn up with the help of Planed.
Flyers will be delivered door to door this week throughout the village.

All ideas will be taken away and investigated before a village plan of aims and projects will be drawn up.
So if there is anything you would like to see in the village then please come along and let us know.
Our hope is that some ideas will be quickly adopted and up and running whilst any major projects and long term goals can be set as future targets.
So please come along and help shape the future of our wonderful village.

Last Friday saw Sunset Cinema return to Hook with a screening of The Greatest Showman. After the original date had to be postponed due to high winds all fingers were crossed that the weather would be on our side this time.
The rain stayed away and the wind dropped on what turned out to be a fabulous evening. Over 400 people attended on the evening, almost doubling last year’s turnout, and with an outside bar, a burger stall and a popcorn and candy floss stall everybody seemed to thoroughly enjoy the evening. There have been lots of great comments posted all over Facebook and Twitter as well as numerous photos from the evening.
We are still to get a final total but somewhere in the region of £1000 will be going towards refurbishment of the play park in the village. A massive thanks to all who helped out setting up, manning the stalls, stewarding and clearing up afterwards. We would also like to thank all the staff from the Torch Theatre who did a fantastic job once again and also Matthew from the Cottage Inn Llangwm for the loan of the popcorn and candy floss machines.
We are already in talks with the Torch Theatre over next year’s Sunset Cinema and Hook is now definitely on the sunset cinema map.
Check out some of the photos from Friday below
Don’t forget folks the Sunset Cinema showing of The Greatest Showman is this Friday 17th August. Gates open at 7:00 pm with the film starting at approx 9:00pm. Tickets available from the Torch Theatre or contact any of the Hook Community Councillors.
