There have been a number of instances recently where canisters of nitrous oxide have been found throughout the village.

Nitrous Oxide is also known as Nox, hippy crack and laughing gas amongst others. It is 1 of the latest substances youngsters are using to get a high and has led to a number of deaths throughout the country. Users usually take the substance by breathing it from a balloon. Being heavier than air it forces the oxygen out of your lungs leaving you feint and light headed. It can also cause hallucinations. Like most substances the body slowly gets accustomed lessening the effect which often leads to the user moving onto harder drugs.

These instances have been reported to the police and more routine police visits have been agreed.

Please warn your children of the dangers of using drugs including the longer term implications and encourage them to let you know if anybody offers them any substances.

We all like to think that our child wouldn’t do that, but judging by the numbers of canisters found,this is groups of youngsters rather than 1 or 2 individuals.

  2. Ive seen them on the seats by the telephone box on pill road. Cars are comming pulling over and then leaving. Also a hang out place in on the sweets on the field near the great box by the road. Ive seen guys in black hoodies with back packs wondering around on many occasions. Ive been told one boy lives down leven close.
    My kids are wary being out on there own at the moment.
    There is definatly a problem going on.
    Ive reported it to the police but nothing had bean done.
