Hook Community Council would like to thank all those who were involved in producing, publishing and delivering the latest Black Diamond Newsletter. A huge amount of work goes into each issue of the Black Diamond newsletter and it continues to offer all clubs, groups and societies within the village an opportunity to let all residents know what they have been up to and what they have planned in the coming weeks and months. None of it would be possible without the endeavours of Jane & Geoff Hanbury who spend an enormous amount of time chasing up articles, editing and collating all this information before presenting it in an easy to read, informative publication.
If there is anybody who hasn’t received a copy there are spare copies available at Hook Shop & Post Office or Hook Sports Club. You can also read it online on the village website by clicking the link below

Matt has been in conversation with the Community Council for a number of years, initially with Stuart Blaxland and Richard Howells, about the possibility of the renovation of the old winch which was located at stumpy corner at the bottom of Little Milford Woods. The idea in principal was agreed and after much time and effort Matt recently received the funding required for the project.
Back in February a team of National Trust rangers set about the task of dismantling and removing the winch to their workshop. Matt told us that since then, his volunteer group have met up once a week and have been busy, mostly with wire brushes, getting the winch back to bare metal. Once they have completed this task it will be a case of treating the metal with various finishes to return it to its former glory.
The Winch will then be relocated to a new site near to the car park with an information board explaining some of its history. The new site has been chosen for its accessiblity to a greater number of people and its stunning view of the estuary.
We hope to have a page on the www.hookvillage.org website dedicated to the Winch, with regular updates from Matt and his team in the coming days.
